Beginning with a brainstorming session, we began discussing potential ideas and concepts for the podcast. We also discussed what type of presenters could be involved and what type of audience we wanted to market overall. We then broke out into smaller teams to research different areas such as audience, competitors, tone of voice and much more. By doing this we were able to build on a simple idea and could begin writing up the podcast concept.
Now that we established the audience and tone of voice we started working on writing up a draft script for an episode. After that we jumped straight into booking a recording studio and bringing in the selected presenter, ready to record. Taking the raw recording in adobe audition, we edited the podcast by removing long pauses and anything that was off script, such as fumbled words. We made sure to still keep the sound natural as that fit our tone of voice. So we kept some natural sounds like laughter. As for the sound design, simple classical music was added when needed and a jingle at the beginning and end.
Now that we had this rough edit we were able to discuss all the pros and cons of the recording and how we would move forward with improvements. Refinements were made to the style of script writing and sound design guidelines were put in place ready to edit future episodes. A music clearance list was also made for the episodes so no legal issues would arise. Now we were set to begin recording full episodes.
Later on we looked into the advertisement of the podcast and what imagery would suit. We started by going back to our original research, looking at our audience, tone and what our competitors were doing and not doing. Following this we were able to source the correct images and began editing the levels through photoshop. After this we added logos and played around with the layout. Once these designs were completed we held a meeting to review and release to social platforms.
